This book stands for a catalogue of the Lithuanian pavillion at the 54-th Venice Biennale, where the Contemporary Art Centre represented a project Behind the White Curtain by Darius Miksys. On the occasion of the project a temporary art collection was assembled comprising works by artists who received stipends from the Lithuanian state between 1992 and 2010.

Over 300 artists were recipients of these awards; 173 of which accepted the invitation to contribute to this collection.

While the pages of this book are organised alphabetically by artist’s name, the content is also indexed chronologically according to the artist’s date of birth, and both alphabetically and chronologically in relation to the title and year of each work.

Each artist was asked to suggest an artwork for inclusion that he or she made from around the time the stipend was received. To preserve their autonomy, each artist has been given a double page spread in the catalogue.
